Inspired by this week‘s This or That column, I’ve decided to do a ‘what’s in my cosmetics bag’ post. I’m sure by now, most every blogger has done some sort of what’s in my bag post, so I hope this doesn’t bore you terribly! As I mentioned in my comment on This or That, as much as I love fashion and style and fashion photography and all that jazz, I’ve ironically never been one for cosmetics. My makeup routine consists of 2 types of eyeliner, mascara, concealer, and some expired eyeshadow I randomly found in my bathroom drawer one day. If I’m taking blog pictures, I’ll get fancy and put on a little lip color. However, I’ve got some shampoos and lotions I really like to use, so I’ve expanded this post to include those too.

Enjoy Hair & Skin Treatment Oil / Shine Spray: My hairstylist turned me on to Enjoy products and these two are my faves. My hair can get a bit dry at times. The treatment oil nourishes it up and I like to spread the extra on my hands too. The shine spray gives it a nice, finished shine.
Alba Botanica Shampoo + Conditioner: I LOVE this stuff. Seriously. It smells like cake batter and lathers up real well.
Bed Head Shampoo + Conditioner: When I get tired of Alba Botanica, I like to mix it up with Bed Head shampoo and conditioner. It works real nice when I straighten my hair and smells like kiwi!

Trader Joe’s Jojoba Oil and Coconut Body Butter: I love Trader Joe’s. End of story. In fact, Friday is my favorite day of the week because (well, besides it being Friday), my mom usually goes grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s and brings back all kinds of goodies. In addition to food, their beauty products never fail to disappoint as well. The jojoba oil is pretty messy and oily (so if you use it, make sure you’re not going anywhere soon), but it makes my legs really smooth! And the coconut body butter smells like the beach.
Earth Science Clarifying Facial Wash: I found this at the health food store one time and took a chance with it per the owner’s recommendation. Albeit fragrance free (no fun), the skin on my face is really sensitive, so this works well to keep my skin clear and is very gentle.
Burt’s Bees Lip Balm / Body Lotion / Hand Salve: Boy oh boy, my love affair with Burt’s Bees, where do I begin? My lips get super dry and Burt’s Bees lip balm is the only stuff that works. I lose these like crazy, so I usually stock up at the store. The hand salve smells pretty nasty, but saves my skin in the wintertime! And the lotion doesn’t work as well; it just smells really good
L’Oreal Liquid and Pencil Eyeliner (both in cocoa brown): I use the liquid eyeliner on my top lids to do cat eyes and the pencil to outline where I’m going to put the wings of my cat eyes on my top lids.
Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara: Nothing special, but does the job.
Random eyeshadow from who knows where: I spread a teeny tiny bit of the white eyeshadow on my lower lash line. They say it’s supposed to make your eyes look bigger; if it’s true, I really don’t know.
Random concealer from who knows where: Works like a charm on my blemishes! Kinda scared for when it runs out because I don’t know where I got it.
Maybelline Lip Color (in continuous coral): I don’t like lip gloss (too sticky) and I don’t like lipstick either, so this lip color is the perfect happy medium for me. I wear it for blog pictures and I love the way it photographs. Plus it doesn’t get on your teeth and it lasts for a long time.
So there you have it! That’s my beauty routine. Now it’s time for you to share yours! Do you use any of the products I use? Or maybe you have a few recommendations for me?
(my makeup bag is from clinique)
I love these posts! So interesting to see I’m not the only person owning too much chapstick!!
Lots of love
