Polka dots and creatures

polka dots and creatures - drifter and the gypsy blog

This is what I wore to the Dear Creatures sample sale at Asmbly Hall in SF this past weekend. Usually sample sales are kinda meh in my opinion. Everything still ends up being overpriced and picked over, but this one was actually really great (nothing over $50!). I came home with a pair of high-waisted shorts and a skirt (both of which will probably be making appearances on the blog soon). It was also a good day because I walked by Crossroads on Fillmore Street and saw my picture hanging in their window.

Also, the pops made an appearance on my blog! I love it when he’s game to take pictures with me. He dresses quite dapper sometimes:)

Conservatory of Flowers

The Conservatory of Flowers is one of my favorite places in the whole world. Every time I go there, I leave wondering why I don’t visit more frequently. It’s unfortunately located in the outskirts of San Francisco, so I don’t often get around to this neck of the woods. However, last Thursday, my mom and I took a little trip to this part of town when I visited wire sculptor Thomas Hill‘s studio for a school project. Of course I had to take a quick stop by the Conservatory of Flowers for some outfit pictures!

Montbleu

Oh hey! Two outfit posts in one week! What has this world come to?

This is kind of a different look for me, (and oh hey, I’m wearing heels!) but it’s fun to dress in different styles sometimes. It makes you feel like you’re playing the role of a character in a movie or something. I love this outfit because it reminds me of this outfit and this outfit, both of which I adore.

As a side note, how AWESOME are these shoes? I found them at Crossroads a few weeks ago and it was just one of those things when you know you have to have something; although realistically, I don’t know how long I could last in these heels. Fortunately though, I wore this outfit on a quick outing to Utrecht to pick up some art supplies and walking was minimal.

Flora

I got this shirt dress at Goodwill a few weeks ago (this goodwill outing, in fact) and was finally able to debut it the other day.

I’d been looking for a shirt dress for a while; they make such a great staple piece in any wardrobe. And voila! Success at Goodwill. Ironically, the shoes I’m wearing are from the same Goodwill shopping trip; not planned at all! Successful thrift outings always get me in a good mood!

I’ve got sunshine

This is what I wore to the library the other day. Nothin fancy and I know I wear these pants a lot, but even though they’re BRIGHT royal blue, they just seem like they go with a lot. I’m pretty in love with this blouse from SheInside. It’s got a Peter Pan collar: enough said.

Mustard greens and springy things

Happy first day of spring, everyone! The mustard greens are in full bloom! The sun is shining! Walkers are walking, joggers are jogging, bikers are biking… my favorite time of year.

Mom and I took these pictures at a park by where I live. Everyone was out and about flying kites, skateboarding, dog walking, picnicking. It was quite grand.

I picked up this skirt a few years ago at Buffalo Exchange. It’s vintage and the fabric is terribly thin and falling apart, so I’ve only worn it a handful of times, but it’s perfect for pictures.

Farmyard

This barn is a classic example of the precious gems of places I come across when I’m driving around town. I was enroute to Trader Joe‘s and decided to go the back way, which is how I found the barn. It’s fun going different routes to get to your same weekly haunts… breaks up the monotony of the routine, I suppose. This barn is located next to a house, so someone actually owns it. Anyway, when I saw this barn, I promptly pulled over to the side of the road and took these Instagrams from across the street:

Last week, my mom (who’s back from Florida now! huzzah!) and I stopped by again to take some blog pictures. My mom got this skirt from Buffalo Exchange for me and every time I wear it, I always get compliments. It’s made out of a soft, thick cottony material and is so comfy to wear I could probably sleep in this material. Pair it with a peasant blouse and bam! you’ve got yourself a country-esque outfit.
